Hi, I've got a problem I hope someone will be able to help me with. I've just bought a new maxtor 80 gig hdd to use as a slave. I've installed it (making sure the jumpers are set to slave) and booted the computer up. What happens then is that the computer detects the slave when booting up and once finished booting the hdd is displayed as 'working properly' in device manager. However the new hdd does not show in 'My Computer'? I'm now at a loss as it would seem the hdd is working ok but the hdd icon is nowhere to be seen in 'my comp', has anyone else had this experience or knows whats at fault? I'd be massively grateful for any help that can be provided!

You need to format it and assign a drive letter to it before you will see it in My Computer. Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management, select the drive and format it and assign the drive letter then it will be viewable and usable.
