I am having trouble getting XP installed, but I am trying to install XP because Win 2000 won't run any games! they all complain about NT and WinME is crashing easily as does the entire win 9x series. I like win 2000's stability, any suggestions for 2000 so I can stop fiddling with XP.

I would agree that you might want to look at a newer pc. You can get great deals at Dell's website if you look at the refurbished (that work just fine) systems.

As to your problem, I would suggest that it is something wrong with the hard drive. Just because your ME partition boots just fine doesn't mean that there are not bad sectors on the partition you set aside for XP. Perhaps during the install, something goes amiss and therefore XP cannot boot.

I agree that you should stick with 98/ME for this machine for a number of reasons. First, don't use ME. It is nothing but a big, fat, headache. Install a clean copy of 98 Second Edition and you shouldn't have to much trouble. I used 98se for about 1.5 years and never had a serious problem.

To answer your question: No you cannot do anything to 2000 to get it to play all your games.
