Good morning, A user just approached me and said that there is a new profile was created on their machine. We are on a domain and each domain user is added to the admin group on their machine, but they are not added as local users. The new profile is username.domain. What could have caused this? Can it be deleted?
Thanks!

You're allowing your users to have Local Admin privileges? Yikes..
Does the username in the username.domain profile already have a profile on the machine? If so, is it just an "Extra" profile, or it actually in use when your user is logged on?
Soylent Green is PEOPLE!!!

Yes, they have one when they logon, and now a second one has been created, and we do not know why. It added a "1" to the original profile name, and created a new one of the same name. Also, I can't delete this new one cause it says NTuser.dat is in use by another user or process. What do you think?

I know I've seen this before...each time the user logs in, it creates another local profile. I'll be darned at this moment on a Monday night after a VERY long day if I can remember the cause for this. Maybe someone can help us both out here...refresh my memory and correct the problem you're having. XP User, trav, Curt, jboy? Anyone?

This issue may occur if the user profile is damaged. A new one is created with the same name but since the directory already exists, a 1 is attached to the name for enumerating. There would be a trailing 2 the next time the error occurs.
The grass may not be greener on the other side but it sure does have less weeds.
