my old power supply died when i walked into my room the other day, so i went out and bought a new one and installed it. it boots up fine, but everything is slower.
The first night, i tried to play some games and the FPS was smooth. then the next night, i had the computer on for the whole day, and then i tried to play a game but it was VERY choppy, low frames about 10-15 FPS. so for a while i thought that it was a heating problem, so i tried the next day to play a game when i first booted it up. it was smooth but now whenever i boot it up anytime, its just slow. first its choppy for about 2 seconds then smooth for 1 second, then it repeats. please help, thanks

I don't think it is the power supply. I would look for other things like bios settings that may have reset. Be sure to check that the drives are seen in bios as what they are and that all the ram that you should have is reported.

I definitely don't think it's the power supply either.
I'd be more likely to lean toward a video card problem (i.e. something bad happened to the video card when the power supply went out - not all uncommon), or some other reset settings somewhere.

i dont htink the video card is a problem because when im in regular windows, everything is slow like loading winamp, viewing websites, and when i type it's slow also

I also checked the bios screen, it all seems to be in place... not sure what else could happen, and just now my sound went dead.. it doesnt work, like its not in the device managaer, it's plugged in...

Nevermind, the sound works.. it was just randomly off for some reason, but anyhow the BIOS seems to be alright, computer is just still slow.. in fps and loading various programs. im wondering if it could be a worm or something?
I ran spybot, adaware, and norton and theydidnt do anything.
