Hi guys
I hope I can find an expert amongst you to help me resolve an annoying problem I have!
I've just bought a new computer. However, I didn't want to lose all the files from my old hard drive as it has all my music, videos and work files on there as well as all the rest of my families games and folders etc etc.
Now because the new computer I have is a Compaq I can't use my old hard drive as the master (as it doesn't have the Compaq partition installed on it). What i've done, then, is use the new hard drive as the master and set my old one as the slave. Now I can access most things on my old hard drive, but when I need to get to the files that were associated with my own user account I am told that 'Access is denied'. I'm guessing this is because the files on my old user account are password protected.
My question is this: Is there anyway to gain access to all the files from my own user account on the old hard drive? Or am I going to be restricted to using the 'common' files on there that everybody who used the computer had access to?
Thanks in advance to all who respond, it's hugely appreciated.
David

Thanks XpUser - i'll try that shortly. And thanks as well for taking the time to respond, I really do appreciate it.

Hmmm, i've still got a problem with it unfortunately. When I enter 'properties, security, advanced, owener' the only options available to me are 'Administrators/David' and 'Administrator/David'. Unfortunately neither of these is the user account that I actually log on with! I replaced the ownership anyway but it hasn't made any difference unfortunately. Any further advice?
Thanks!

The above link from PER says--
You must be logged on to the computer with an account that has administrative credentials.
