I replaced my faulty motherboard for a new P4 one. FOXCONN. After install in my P4 case I connected the 4 pin ATX power supply connector, no problem. My PSU has a 20 pin connector, it would only go in one way in the 24 pin on the new motherboard. Then there was no sign of any power on start up. Question. Do I need to get an ATX power supply with a 24 pin connector or can there be something else that has gone wrong.

I checked the link you provided bought the right 20 to 24 pin ATX power cable convertor and attached it. Still when I press the on button there is no power anywhere. The power supply is only a couple of months old, I relaced a 400 watt one that was going very noisy, fan not working with a new ATX 400 watt power supply. Are some of them that unreilable?

I would suggest that you have not connected the momentary power On/Off switch of the case to the correct pins on your MoBo.
It can be dark in there and easy to miss the pins you were aiming for.....

It is dark in there and I think I accesed the front panel from the wrong side and hence put the pins in the wrong place know looking at the installation leaflet more carefully again. It is not clear about which way to approach it. It's late over here so I'll try again tomorrow and as yo suggested check the PWR connection.
