I switched from an Asus motherboard to a gigabyte motherboard, and of course had to do the XP Repair. I thought that would fix everything, but it has not. A program that came with the Gigabyte board called "EasyTune4" will not run. When i asked Gigabyte why, they said i would have to reformat my hard drive because it had some of the Asus "DeviceDesc" in the registry. Sure enough, i found 2 instances of the DeviceDesc ( referring to that Asus board ). But when i tried to delete or modify those settings in the registry, it would not let me do it. Do i infact have to reformat the hard drive and start from scratch? I've put CasperXP on my machine, just so i would never have to reinstall windows again... and now it looks like i might have to. HELP !

A format and reload is pretty much in order here. Yes, it sucks and it take time to get things back in order but you did switch out the MoBo and Xp can be a pain the ass. Back up your data and FFR.

BTW, FFR is Fdisk, format and reload.

Agreed, whatever you do when you switch a motherboard in XP, it will never run totally right without reformatting.
