Comment:

for the last two days everytime i open outlook express I get a messenger update popup and I can find no way to turn it off. I do not use messenger so I just need info on how to disable it
also since i got explorer updates my scroll bar is messed up. I click it now and it goes down almost two pages, instead of the one page it used to.
The solutions may be simple but I cannot find them

The link below may very well explain the Page Scrolling problem. It appears to be a bug in one of the recent Microsoft Security Updates.

Scroll Problems

As far as the Messenger problem, open Outlook Express/Tools/Options/General tab and uncheck Automatically logon to Windows Messenger, click Apply, click OK.

Thank you. just did the messenger item and it worked. I was looking for an update button, not the logon one. I'm kind of slow on the best of days.
I will go check out the scroll link now.
