I'm trying to install windows xp onto a friends pc. He just bought a "used" Dell optiplex p3-500L. When I first started out everything seem to be running smoothly. The only thing I had to do was formatt the hardrive. it seem to go fine but outta the blue it stopped, A blue screen appeared saying that "The install had haulted. if this is the first time seeing this, re-boot the pc & try again". Well every time I try to re-boot this silly machine, it brings up the Dell trademark screen, then it goes on to show the following, DHCP MAC ADDR: 00 B0 D0 27 63 14 DHCP.... a rotating / appears at the end of the dots & rotates around for about 30 seconds, Then a line pops up telling me to strike F1 to rer-boot or F2 for Utility, whitch takes me into the Bios. Even though I figure it's not the HD, I've tried 3 different HDDs but keep getting the same thing. Can anyone help me out here.? Like I said before, I've never encounterd this problem before. Thanks in advance, Maxx, London ON.

This is due to the boot order. Go to the setup screen and hit Alt+P and see what is shown. Remove PXE as an option (Ctl+Del) and set it to CDROM, Floppy, Hard drive and you are good to go. A real quick fix.
