If you set it up as a slave why are you trying to fdisk.
my computer>click on explore tab> select slave disk and format.
Xp can handle large drives up to 120gigs without any problems and larger if partitioned.

I bought a 120GB hard disk a few months back. I was running a Pentium 3 w/ 256RAM.

The system wasn't recognizing the new HD when I tried to install it.

Turned out that the P-3 motherboard wasn't compatible with HDs greater than 80GBs.

I had to buy a new m/b and processor. Now everything seems fine.

I'm using a 20GB C: as a master and the 120 D: drive as a slave -- mainly for storage.

Try going to control panel /administrative tools/ computer management/ find storage and use disk management. You don't use fdisk with windows xp or 2k this replaces it.
