New hard drive. Having Driver problems.

July 20, 2010 at 00:38:49
Specs: Windows XP Professional
I bought a new hard drive for my Inspiron 8600 and successfully loaded Windows Xp. My trouble is I lost the driver cd that came with my laptop. The only drivers my computer has are default from Microsoft that came with the OS. So I can't get on the internet to reinstall the drivers I need. I also used a secondary computer to save the drivers from Dell on a CD hoping that I could transfer them but it won't work. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

You are obviously able to get on-line here... so use the same resource to go to Dell website and locate/download drivers there. Ensure you get "all" drivers for your Inpsiron. Save to a cd/dvd or usb stick and then apply/install them that way.

Your Dell will have a Dell "tag" number somewhere... Use that to get to the exact location on Dell support for your system - as shipped; and there you will find all drivers etc...

You may also be able to persuade Dell to send you a Dell badged CD containg all of them?
