Comment:

A friend has just bought a new graphics card for his computer. We bought them together and so have the same spec. computer. 6 months ago I bought a new graphics card (Geforce 6800 GT 256mb) & it has been working very well. He bought a same spec card this week, but when installing it forget to connect the power cable to the card (bear with me!). He said it made a noise, so turner it if straight away, saw the problem, connected the power & nothing happens except the dvdrom drive flickers to life. He has tried putting hos old card back in but same results. What do you he has done? Any ideas what he can do, or is it as terminal as it sounds? Any help would be much appreciated as he is a tiny bit annoyed!

I'd suggest that he think about e-mailing the manufacturer and see what they have to say about his "accident".

Otherwise, try unlugging the power cables to the machine, pop the case open and try reseating (remove them all the way, then reinsert them) the processor, RAM chips, and any riser cards he may have. Then try starting it up and see what happens...
