hi all

lately ive found that for no reason suddenly a folder is being created on my desktop simply being named 'new folder'.
i delete it and the a few hours later or the next day another one will be created. i have no idea what would be creating this. ill run a scan with ad-aware but im sure its been doing this b4 and after the last scan i did. i guess i should probably scan for viruses too yeh?

thanx

robbo

Is it a shortcut that just looks like a folder?

Is there anything in the folder?

In the folders properties; what is the size of the folder? (bytes?)

Go to your 'Run' option from your 'Start' button. Run 'msconfig'. Click on the Startup tab. Uncheck everything that is running and leave the PC on. See if a New Folder is generated. If no New folders are generated then it will be one of those programs that has been unchecked. Would need to re-introduce them one by one to see the effect.

some prog on your machien has a save reference to a new folder on desktop and keep recreating it. or thats what happened to me.
go through your registry and look for and references to New Folder under softwares MRU lists etc, and all the Run lists.
Its in there somewhere
