Comment:

I just received a computer I bought from Monarch computers, and it won't boot up! At least I think it wont. When I turn the computer on there is a terrible high-pitched screaming coming from the computer. The monitor says "no signal". Also, the 3.5 floppy drive light stays green. I originally thought it was a problem with the video card (EVGA 6800XT) since there is apparently no signal getting to the monitor. I hooked the monitor up to my laptop and it works fine, so I know thats not it. With the green light for the floppy staying on, I'm thinking maybe its not booting up correctly (or at all). And I have no idea whats with the high pitched scream coming from the cpu...
I'll be calling Monarch in the morning, but does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

JC

Could be a bad fan or a bad hard drive. Let it alone and take it back.

I wouldn't play with it too much... If you just bought it then it'll be on warranty and if you open it up and start playing then you will give them an excuse to void that warranty

Depending on what system beeper they put in, it could also be the beeper speaker going hysterical also.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day;
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime;
Then industry pollutes the water and kills all the fish.

If the high-pitched screaming was long-short-short,that the Video card was bad.

The floppy light is on because the floppy cable is bacwards. You need to unhook it from the floppy, flip it around and plug it back in.

As for the beep, thats the bios telling you that something isnt seated correctly. You will need to take all the cards out,all the memory sticks and the cpu out then reseat them correctly.
