Hi there.

My Newly built Computer keeps on crashing/freezing, all components are new with warranty. It crashes immediately when I play any kind of game and it also crashes after a while (30mins the max) if I use any other applications (eg. internet, ms word, when auto screensaver comes on)

I checked the temperature of the system and it is as follows: Cpu Fan Speed - 6250Rmp, System Temperature - 27C/80F, CPU Temperature - 57C/132F, the CPU Temp is more than double when compared to the System Temp, could this be the problem?

The Motherboard is a PcChips 841LMR with onboard Video/Audio/Lan/Modem. I'm using onboard video shared memory 64Mb. The Processor is a Duron 1.2Ghz, Hdd 20Gb, Cdrom, 256MbRam, amr modem. Operating system is Windows XP Pro.

Please if you can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank You
Speed

Right click My Computer> Properties>
Advanced tab> Settings button under Startup and Recovery> uncheck Automatically Restart.

Then every time it crashes it may tell you why.

You may also have outdated drivers. Try going to the websites for your various parts and seeing if there are new drivers.
Good luck.

Your problem is your procesor. It is too hot. You have to install a bigger cooler.

Well the problem is mostly ur CPU mine is around 42 celsius and it is already too much, after 50 its REALLLY BAD!! Other then that it could be also your 3d card's drivers, before when I played warcraft 3 it always crashed at beginning, then I updated my drivers and it works great. But first STOP USING THAT COMP AND GET A MUCH MUCH BETTER FAN OR WHATEVER COOLING SYSTEM YOU CAN FIND!!
E-mail me if u need more advice..

allright chicken littles. 57c is very hot, but not to the point of your computer fixing to explode. under 60c is fine.

what is your powersupply ratting. not having enough power can make your computer crash. your 5v will go down and down until it crashes.

before you go an buy a new power supply. go here and update your bios.

see if that helps, also check drivers.

with all those onboard componets you may need to get a few case fans to keep the mobo cool.a new cpu fan would help keep tempatures cooler, but update bios/drivers before you buy anything.

Hello there.

Thank You very much for all your help and advice, unfortunately the worst has happened. Although the cooler was approved for this processor the temperature reached 62 degrees and as soon as windows desktop came on I was planning to turn it off but it just shut down by itself, basically the processor has been cooked.

Thank Goodness at least the motherboard is working ok. I have sent the processor back for a replacement, but I doubt it if I will get another.

Anyways thank you for all your help Chuck, MadMan, Ciprian, n3985, Chris and Mooseboy84. Hope you guys can help me again sometime.

Thanks
Speed

Your CPU was not too hot. It may well be faulty but you didn't cook a duron at 57C

Here is a maximum temperature guide:
