remove the NOSPAM prefix to email me...

Here's how to remove this feature which is an unaddressed bug by WindowsXP (this may only apply to WinXP or other NT based systems):

On your desktop, right-click on "My Computer" and click "manage". (You may need "explore" to your desktop by going to "my documents" and typing "desktop" in the address line in order to expose the "my computer" icon if it hidden by default on your desktop.)

Now, "Computer Management" opens, expand the "Services and Applications" branch and click on "Services". Scroll down on the right side and find "Messenger". Double-click on it, then under the "General" tab, on the dropdown menu that is titled "Startup type", select "Disabled". Hit Ok, then close "Computer Management" window. To be sure, you may wish to restart your PC.

This feature should never bother you again :)

Cheers,
Derek
