I signed up for netzero less than a week ago. When I try to connect to the internet I get a message:
Problem start dialing. 0
can't start dialing
The only way I can get connected is if I delete Netzero from internet connection and then reboot the compluter. This is a real pain. Has anybody else had the same problem. I would appreciate any suggestions.

I believe NetZero is for those who uses modem for access to the internet. If you are on broadband, do not use NetZero.

If you have Platinum Netzero service where you pay 9.95/mo, then open "Netzero-Quick Help" that
is on your Desktop,
then at the bottom of the error list,
click "How to Contact Support".

Then click "Live Agent E-Mail Support" link.

Tell them your problem.
They respond quickly.

Netzero is only for people who use a 56k modem, you must clarify that XpUser. People who have a brodband connection also use a modem, a cable modem, people who use a dsl connection also use a modem, a dsl modem.
Now, when you can actually connect to the internet, does it stall dial a connection??

Huh high speed means a new type of dial-up Internet access that accelerates your Web surfing experience using your existing phone jack and modem. So if you are using DSL or cable, don't bother using NetZero.

Restarting the computer, clears or cleans out the RAM memory. Maybe would help to have more RAM memory installed.

XP uses all of, at least, 128MB to run properly,
and works better. Then you need more than that
for running other programs. Try 256 or 512 more.

He has 256 so it's not really a question of how much ram he has.

And yes, HiSeed should not be used on dsl, adsl, broadband connections.

I should have mentioned that I do have a 56k modem and also I have the platinum service. I have already contacted their customer support and they still haven't solved the problem. I also tried to uninstall netzero and reinstall the latest version which I downloaded 6 days ago from their website.

Thats a very good question. I guess we were too complacent. You know nowaday its rare for someone to come here with problems related to 56K connection.

I do not know about your problem.
But it may be something to do with your Netzero settings.

Try:
Right click the NZ icon in the System Tray at the right side of the Taskbar,
then point to Options,
then click "Close the Netzero Taskbar icon when I disconnect".
Then go back and uncheck the other items.

and try this:
Disable Autodial
To disable autodial, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. If you are using Category View, click Network and Internet Connections.
3. Click Network Connections, and then on the Advanced menu, click Dial-up Preferences.
4. Click the Autodial tab.
5. Click to clear the check boxes that are listed under Enable autodial by location.
6. Click to select the Always ask me before autodialing check box (if not already selected).
7. Click to select the Disable autodial while I am logged on check box.
8. Click OK, and then close the Network Connections dialog box.

Hello All,
I have dsl and also have netzero, I have found no problem using netzero. About using a 56k modem, aol have 22 million subscribers and they are using modems, most, probably at 56k. As for tech support, i have had four different isp's, the technical support that is available at these isp's are far inferior to that available at this website. Phrase your problem correctly, I am sure the help you require is available here. I tip my hat to those who offer help to the many that come here. If you are a regular to this site, you will see the handful who make their knowledge available to correct your problem,
frank
