Comment:

I am trying to network 2 machines, an AthlonXP based XP Pro machine and a K6-2-500 based SE machine. They are both connected to my DSL modem via a network hub. I ran the networking wizard on the XP machine and at the end created a network setup disk. I ran the network setup disk on the SE machine. I have both machines assigned to the same workgroup (PPID). I have the root and the directory I want to transfer on the SE machine shared.
My Network Places on the XP machine sees the PPID workgroup, but when I try to open it, I get an error, "PPID is not accessable, you might not have permission..., consult the administrator..."
I AM the administrator. Only thing is, I don't know crap about networks.

Dam@#$it! This was supposed to be easy. (Can you tell I'm getting frustrated?)

TIA, CJon

Thanks to trophyman and also to the moakes, but I have a problem with both answers.

First (trophyman), while Techtony's site is really nice and quite informative, it is entirely directed at networking with W98, and I wasn't able to adapt it to XP. Maybe it is just me.

Second (moakes), If I connect the DSL modem direct to the main computer, how do I connect the main computer to the network? I must be missing something here.

Two answers, neither of which can I make work. Since I'm obviously a dummy, I need step by step for XP to SE networking through a hub. For this project, I don't really care if the DSL is part of the system or not. Maybe it would be better if it wasn't?
