I'm running xp, my brother is running 98 each in our own bedrooms, I have a sprint broadband connection with a static IP address, how do I network us together? I set my tcp/ip to automaticly get ip adress (from sprint) and I also set that for his, nothing. I manualy configured mine, and set his one off, ie 192.168.1, ...2 ect, that gives me an IP conflict. We both have linksys cards that worked before broadband. The modem is plugged into the hub along with both our computers, frankly I'm just confused, can anyone help?

Use the USB for the modem to one computer then setup your net work between the 2. Run a proxy server on the machine that has the connection.

Please do not use the USB connection for setting up a proxy server. A Proxy server must be on at all times someone wants to access the internet. A more effective way of doing this is to have the router automatically assign ip addresses starting from 192.168.1.100
