I am running Win Xp pro and am trying to establish a local area connection. I want to share my internet connection with my Win 98 machine. But i have conflicts. I have setup everything on my Win xp machine. No firewalls just in case. Then i setup everything on the win98 machine. When i start up my local area conenctionnection, my win xp machine sends packets but the other machine is not receiving. I ipconfig my xp machine and i read that everything is OK. Now what do i need to do? Internet connection sharing, MicrosoftClient For Micro, File sharing and Internet Protocol are all selected. Is there anything that i would need to do on my 98 machine in order to get this to work??

already did that. i dont know what else to do. When i run ipconfig /all it shows the ethernet connnection that is made. And everythings seems ok until there. I ran the connection wizard from the Xp cd on the win98, and i also did it on my XP machine. And still nothing works

Have you renamed the 'network connections' on your XP machine from the default values? i.e. change to home network and internet connection etc. PS, get that Firewall back up on your XP machine (internet connection only). You know it makes sense.
