Hello everyone!!
I have a major issue that i would like to get answers for. For some reason, i cant log on to various pages with my explorer. My internet works well, but I cant proceed to checkout on amazon.com, i cant use my windows messenger, i cant log onto my university email account, i cant use my outlook express, and cant register for certain webpages on the net. Also, any new program that i install cant seem to connect to the internet, and i cant use the windows update website either..Besides that, i can surf the web anywhere.
could anyone help?
Thanks a lot!!

endre,

Do u have any firewalls running on your system??? i would check to see if it is blocking these programs....also by default xp has a firewall built in.....i would go in and check if that is on or not as well

next i would go into internet options and check the security delte cookies, temp files, and make sure that the privacy level is at medium.....also without having a firewall i would run a scan to see if you have any spyware or virus lving on your pc and get them all cleaned up as well......program for the spyware---adaware......as for the virus scan i would go to www.download.com and download avast! and do a scan of your pc at that point. also double check and make sure the internal firewall for xp is off for certain----here is the littl blurb from the help menu on how to shut it off or turn it on for you---

To enable or disable Internet Connection Firewall
Open Network Connections
Click the Dial-up, LAN or High-Speed Internet connection that you want to protect, and then, under Network Tasks, click Change settings of this connection.
On the Advanced tab, under Internet Connection Firewall, select one of the following:
To enable Internet Connection Firewall (ICF), select the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet check box.
To disable Internet Connection Firewall, clear the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet check box.
