I'm using a legitimate copy of Windows XP. After some serious hard drive corruption I formatted and reinstalled everything. However, the networking doesn't seem to have installed properly. When the cable is unplugged from my network card, the tray icon shows the standard crossed out networking icon. However, when it is plugged in, the icon disappears all together. The only way I can tell there is activity is through Zone Alarm.
The worst part is that I'm getting about 0.3k in bandwidth at most. Very strange. Almost every download and web page times out, as well as retrieving mail, Windows Update, getting Folding@Home units, etc.
This is on a DSL connection, btw. Using the same network cable in my girlfriend's computer I get upwards of 100k/sec.
I've updated all my drivers but to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks!
