Hello,
I have three computers and am trying to network them to share a PPPoE connection.

My first computer is a Celeron(800)Windows XP (home) and it can connect and login fine.

My second computer is a Hewlet Packard (500mhz) with a D-Link NIC and it can connect and login to the modem fine using WIN98SE.

The third computer is a ULTRAtech (266mhz) with a NETGEAR NIC and it used to be able to connect but when i reinstalled WIN98SE it would not connect anymore.

All Three are connected threw a hub.

My Topology looks like this:

|(INTERNET)
+-Hub+
+-Celeron
+-P2
+-P3

I've got them all networked to share files, so there cannot be any hardware conflicts. And i have tryed seveval brands of NIC's in the P2, but they all fail.

Somebody told me there is a patch or something i need to install on my P2 so WIN98 can connect to a PPPoE.

I already have a connection program, but it won't work, and its the same settings on my P2 and P3.

Any help would be great! or even a push in the right dirrection.

hmmmm. the modem your using, is it a router connected to the hub or is it a usb device running through one of the machines.

if its a router you should just need to install the software it came with on the client.

if its a usb modem, connection sharing should be sufficient using the setup disk you make or manual settings(provided that all the machines can see each other) and i would hazard a guess that the modem is running though the p3.

also be mindful of any firewalls you may be running

thats about all i can thing of right now.

Can you connect to the internet with each machine separately?
