I am having trouble trying to connect a new computer to my existing workgroup network. The computer I am trying to install is running Win XP Pro and the network consists of 5 XP Pro box, 1 Win 98 box and one Win 2000 box.
All of the computers connect to a switch and then from the switch to a DSL router. All of the existing computers can communicate and share resources with each other as well as connect to the internet, but the one I'm trying to install can only gain access to the internet.
When I boot up, the other computers can see the new comp in the workgroup but cannot access the shares on it, the one in question cannot see any other computer in the workgroup, I have checked many times that the workgroup was the same and it is.
Any ideas?

hey CHRIS,
check not only the workgroup, but the domain. depending on your overall structure, you may not have to specify the domain and/or the workgroup, or you may have to specify both.
in other words, does the new machine need to become a part of an existing workgroup, existing domain, or both.
this is a shot in the dark. don't know if you have a domain to work with.
GOOD LUCK!
