I have a wireless network setup with a D-Link router. One computer is a desktop, the other a laptop (both running XP). I have run the network setup wizard on both computers. Here's the problem:
When I am on my desktop computer, I can connect to the laptop and see the files, delete/copy/modify the files...everything works fine. However, when I go on to my laptop computer, I can see my desktop computer in the "View Workgroup Computers", but when I try to explore it I get an error message saying something about permissions and that I should see my network administrator.
I have tried turning on Guest accounts on both computers a couple times. Didn't change anything. Any ideas?

I don't know if this will work for home edition or not. On your desktop open My Computer up. Click on Tools, Folder Options..., View, scroll to the bottom and uncheck "Use simple file sharing" and click Ok that should fix your problem.

Tried that. There was no "use simple file sharing" option in the 'View' window. Any more ideas?
P.S. Really appreciate the fast reply and help in general. Thanks.

Here is all networking info I have-

adam that "view" wasn't between edit and favorites. It is under Tools/folder options then click on the view tab. go to the bottom of the list and do as suggested. That is the view tab not window btw.
Golly gee wilerkers everyone. Learn to Internet Search

wanderer. I know that. There was no "use simple file sharing" option under the view TAB.
Chuck 2, I'll check some of those links out and then post what results I get, thx.

Good luck finding a solution to this problem.
While XP's file sharing seems to work well in a domain environment, it seems to have a major problem on a workgroup network. I've been trying to solve this problem on my network (workgroup) for a couple years.
Believe me, I've tried every supposed solution that exists on the internet and nothing has helped(and I'm A+ certified and a certified Network Administator). Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.
