Hi, I have no cd rom drive and want to do a network install...can I do one from a windows 98 boot disk if so how?? and other ideas???
I'm not clear on what you mean by a network install. Are you intending to connect 2 computers together? Have you got the cable you need to do so? I don't have XP myself but in Windows 98SE you can manually make the settings. I imagine the same would be true in XP. As a matter of interest how did you install XP without a CD Rom drive?

Came pre-installed...and the cd-rom Failed..and yes I have two computers networked together..
As I said I do not use XP myself but I assume you have used the Network Wizard and at some stage this is asking you for the Windows CD to copy over some files. If this is the case then you are stuck I'm afraid, UNLESS you are lucky enough to have a folder in the root drive called something like WinXP. Often with new computers they will come with the contents of the CD copied onto the C Drive in its own folder which mostly contains 'cab' files. On a 98 system this will be called win98. If so then rerun the network wizard and when asked to insert the CD you should have the option to browse to a different location - choose the winXP folder and the files will be taken from there. Fingers crossed. Let me know how you get on.
