Network error

You start with the basics like are tbey physically connected correctly, ip addresses correct, firewalls turned off, accounts setup correctly, workgroup name is common, things like that. Any basic How To for networking found on the web will walk you thru it.

All this stuff was already done. I have the computers connected by router. I also have them both in Network Places, but they cannot chare files for some reason.

Not having read your original Post, I'll ask an obvious question:
Do you have the hard drive or folders on the computer you want to access shared?
If not, try right clicking the hard drive and choose "sharing" and click on "share this drive on the network".
