Comment:

I am trying to get rid of som old network drivers that I believe are slowing up the startup of the system. They are from an old wireless network that used the household power via USB hubs.

I uninstalled the system, but it left the drivers behind. I have been in the control panel to delete them, but two of them will not allow me to delete them, saying they are needed to boot.

I went into the registry and deleted many settings, but about a dozen will not allow me to delete them, saying that they are predefined values. In investigating further, they have something to do with packet scheduling.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Joe

Go to one of the Internet libraries like ZDNet.com and download a register cleaner or defragmenter for the registry..

It should find any un-needed values. Open the task manger and turn off everything that will allow you to turn it off. Then try deleting the icons in the control panel.
