Network Crash

The other night my internet on my network went down! I reset the Cable modem and the router and still does not work.

The internet works when i plug a computer directly into the Cable modem.

When im connected to the network and i go 2 Run/Cmd/ipconfig
It does display my IP etc.. but cant get on the internet

HELP

Sounds like the router may have died. But before you sentence it to the trash run a few diagnostics. First, depending on the router, try to get into the routers configurations page by opening IE and typing the correct address in (usually 192.168.1.1) If it does connect then the router may need to be tweaked and/or need a firmware update. See if there are any firmware updates for it. Follow the procedure of the router make on how to do it. Have you unplugged the router and THEN hit the reset button? If all else fails then you may need a new one. My Linksys died a few months back and I had to replace it. It happens. Also, a friend's router power pack was out of sync and that too can cause a problem.
