Network Connectivity lost

I had one of my techs run Microsoft Spyware Beta 1 on a users PC and after it cleaned out her machine it cuased the network connectivity to be lost. He has tried uninstalling NIC and checking firewall settings...anyone run into this before?

Shut down the computer >> power cycle/unplug the cable modem or DSL >> plug it back in after waiting several seconds then boot the computer back up

Its not on DSL, its on a T1 at work...And the card gives a link light.
