Network Connections Not Showing

January 24, 2014 at 16:01:44
Specs: Windows XP
When I double click on the Network Connections within the Control Panel I get a blank screen. My internet works fine.

When I attempt the regsvr32 netman.dll command I get a failure with error code 0x80070005 (same for netshell.dll).

I did a repair install, but no success. I have admin privilege and even did this using the admin account.

Any suggestions welcome.

mmm - not had this one before - ever… But there are hits about it "out there" in www-land…; and one of them points to here:

It may be a starting point at least. Odd that you say you can connect to the internet OK but nothing in Network Connections…?

The above link does go through those assorted dlls too...

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've done many searches for a solution and had seen the link you provided. I have the TCP/IP item checked as was mentioned, plus I've done a lot of other things mentioned in various notes, but no success.

As I said, I can access the internet fine, just can't get to see the network connections. I'm hoping for a shorter solution than doing a reinstall.

Hopefully others here may have a solution. I will be most interested to know the what, why etc...

The strange item here is that although there is nothing shown in the Network connections area, user can access the internet OK?
