Hey When I'm using my network card (10/100mbits) in the local area network (which are 4 other computers), I can't ping them somtimes.. I ping then all of a sudden in doesn't work then it works again? Why? Its like my network card is broken.. But I changed it to another one (10mbits) and its acting almost the same, but not as worse as the first one..

could it be your hub/router? try pluging into a different port, then try a different cable. if all does teh same you can now rule out almost all hardware.

i have had the same problem. I have switched network wires around and it still only happens to the same computer I changed the network card also. only difference is that with the new card, i do not have to reboot after i lose the network connection

Try placing the NIC in an other PCI slot. It's possible this solves some problems.

To Peter: I did try that when I used the other network card but it didn't work.. But I will try it again and see if it works..
Another problem other then that the ping doesn't work is that its really slow when copying things over an ftp server.. For me and for thoose who connect to me..

Back from testing: ok, I tried the network card in a friend's computer, and it seemed to work fine for him.. So then I tried it in another PCI slot in my computer and now it seems to be working again.. :) So, I hope it won't begin to not work again ;). Thanks for trying to help me!

as a general rule of thumb don't use PCI slot 1 for anything unless you really need it...
Summary: I'm sure what you're talking about doing will work fine, as the adapter should act just like a normal network card. Try it. Worst case scenario: It doesn't work. You can also network them together ...
Summary: The first thing I would do is take the network card out and see if you computer acts normal. If you can then get to the devise manager or system restore. If everything is working fine(which I doubt it...
