I am using Netscape 4 Messenger (because I don't like the newer versions of Netscape). It worked fine with Windows 98SE and now I am using it with Windows XP. It has worked fine, but I just got an error message a few times, and someone I sent an email with a few photos embedded in a table in the message body just responded to me that he couldn't view the photos and to send them as attachments. All of this has never happened to me before. I rebooted and I got the same error message.

If I saved the message as I created it as either a draft or a template, when I would click to send it a popup error window would say "there is an error with 'DocumentsAndSettings/Local/MyName..etcand it cannot be sent with this file - do you want to send the file anyway?".

I would fiddle with things, close and reopen Messenger. The first time I tried to reply to the person who told me to send the photos as attachments instead of embedded, I got the same error message. So it occurred to me that maybe the html table encoding was causing the problem (and I had left that in the lower portion of the reply message), so I deleted that from the body and maybe it got sent okay after that.

If I look at the email in the Sent folder, it displays fine.

The most frustrating part of this is that I first sent this email to one person, and he is the one who replied to me saying he couldn't see the photos. Then I sent it to a couple groups of about 6 people at once. So I am left wondering how widespread this problem became while I was sending these emails, and if any others received faulty emails where they couldn't view the photos. I don't want to look like an idiot in front of some of these people, and I would rather not send one of those pleading emails saying "If you couldn't see the photos please let me know and I'll send them again."

Is there any way I can track how well these emails were sent, investigating it on my own without notifying the recipients?

Also, on the subject of Messenger, it freezes if I try to send a single email to more than about 20 recipients at once. But I seem to be able to send to an unlimited number of recipients with Outlook Express without a problem. But I prefer to use Messenger over Outlook Express for email and address books. I had the same problem when I used Win 98SE. Can anyone help?

I use Netscape 6.2

I find in order for Attachments to show up in the text area, they must be jpeg files.

AOL sure messed up the browser when they bought Netscape Communications.

With AOL messing up 4.x with 6.x,
1. I have no Page Setup or Print Preview any more.
2. Editing text in email Compose causes problems
3. Some websites cannot be viewed because they do not support 6.x.
Then over time websites can be viewed.
Netscape is coming out with 7.x
Suppose to be better.

My ISP is www.netzero.net
Only 9.95 per month. (dial-up)
