I installed skype to see what it was like. i have since removed it. However this has mucked up my use of netmeeting.
If i go to netmeetinghq.net and click on one of the listed peoples links, instead of calling that person via netmeeting i get an error message 'this file does not have a programme associated with it for performing this action, create an association in the folder options control panel.
then another message comes up'internet explorer cannot open this helper application for callto:(then an IP address)the protocol specified in this address is not valid, make sure the address is right then call again.
It worked ok before installing skype therefore that programme must have changed something.
netmeeting calls ok from within its own directory listings as usual.
anyone have any ideas please

kjgood, sounds to me as though the very idea that you wouldn't want to use their goodie was completely foreign to them so they simply changed things to point to themselves. Restore to a prior date?
HTH.

Either as Ed said or reinstall the net meeting software.
I use skype quite regularly talking to friends all over the world without any issues. Maybe you just got a bad installation to begin with.

Skype gives you the option during instal to associate all callto items with it. You must have selected that option. When you uninstalled Skype it did not automatically reset the associations. Doing a system restore to a point before Skype was installed should fix it for you.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Many thanks for your help but i dont wish to roll back to an earlier time at this point.
Can someone please list the full callto default settings for win xp pro so i can re enter them
Many thanks
