IMO : it is perhaps not a software problem, but rather hardware on, RAM, cpu buffer going cookoo, something like that

Make sure all "Remote access" and "Remote desktop" Services are set to auto and are started (Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services).

Services.msc?

I thought I said goto Control Panel, then Admin Tools, then Services.

Scroll down through the list and you will see two "Remote Access" services, and one "Remote Desktop" service, all next to each other.

Make sure they are all set as "Auto" and are STARTED.

nothing much, really...

Although I am expecting a call from our National Bank. I'm sure they want to know how I got my XP as well-protected as it appears to be: Shareaza is still giving me a 'you're firewalled, mate' message, even though I would have to physically bend over and kiss my toes to be more 'open & receiving' then I already am !:)

Get rid of Shareaza dude, I looked at it and discarded it. I can't believe you couldn't get to grips with Bittorrent. I'm gonna go through it once again, you need to get this!

Simply go here and d/load the program......

http://bt.degreez.net/

Then install it, don't try and run it as there is nothing to run!

Once installed, go here........

http://novasearch.net/

Search for the game/music/film/software you want, click on the link for it, BT will then pop-up and ask where you would like to save it to, and that's it!!!!!

DO IT NOW!!!

lol.

I just saved your instructions to notepad.

I'll look into it again after I deal with the folks from the National Bank !:) (btw this is the end of a 'long night')
Many thanx again, and please don't hate me for being dazzled by the Shareaza-interface. All them pretty colours... :)

How's life in England? I often watch the BBC, you know! In fact, I watch it more than all of 'our' channels combined. Never mind the buzzcocks is still my favourite.

yeah! we often say 'f--- off' to France !:)

I didn't know that retiring to the south of France was something the English also longed for. But then again, who wouldn't want to spend 'the rest of his days' (KTTD ?:) strolling along the beach, looking at the tan-lines ?:)

Bonjour Hooner

Forget the north of France !
For a completely idyllic and decadent retirement, choose Provence.
You'll love it...a gazillion other Pommies there to chat to...you won't even need to learn French !

Amicalement

A 240page manual is a bit much, I agree. Sorry about that.

You don't mention this one:
Netmeeting 3.01 ServicePack 1
Maybe one of the PCs has an update and the other hasn't.

Press WinKey+R (=MS-LogoFlagKey +R) to get the RUN-box, and type:
mstsc
to start a Remote DeskTop connection.
The way I figure this: if you can establish a Remote DeskTop connection, then you know that the main way of connecting is possible(see the transcript linked for more). Once you've made sure that a connection is possible, you can then narrow it down to the NetMeeting program itself and no need to worry about hardware then.

Is there a UserAccount that's 'locked' on the other computer? Does Netmeeting allow that situation?

XTRA:
I read this at MS: (from a Support Webcast transcript, March 5, 2002), my interpretation:
It appears that Microsoft will be replacing Netmeeting with their Remote DeskTop -features in the future.
