I have the following "problem" using nero-burning rom:
I use this software to burn a database (~ 2000 files in a directory tree). When I drug a drop the top dir in the compilation area, it looks like the software scans the files before updating the compilation (~ a second per file). This prossess takes a lot (~5-10 minutes). What makes me feel that there is something changed in the software, is that on the past using an older version of nero it was a process of some seconds.
"scan for virus" option is unticked, cass files is disabled and imapi is disabled too. I use McAfee for virus protection - could this be the problem?
Thanks everyone in advance

With Windows XP, Nero, McAfee (maybe) and a database program running I strongly suspect it maybe a RAM issue. Upgrade to at least 256, I would recommend a minimum of 512mb for todays computing jobs.

Yep, M's right. From what you describe it's too much for a small amout of ram. I bet if you watch your drive light it's going nuts. The pagefile is all fine and good but it's slow.
Xp it self has demands on the ram, Nero is bloatware and McAfee is running in the background. Makes for a combination that begs for more and possibly faster ram. Check the web site of who made your motherboard for the correct type and size your system board supports.I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...

No, ppl, it doesn't have NOTHING with amount of RAM. I can only assure you that NBR's trying to _RESCAN_ all files in current folder and it's subfolders for - who knows ? - reason. Nero5 didn't have such moronic problem. Why Ahead just couldn't give a user an OPTION like "[ ] Scan all files in folder you're about to enter/change to" ? Once again - this is NOT about the RAM but about NBR _wish to scan_ EVERY TIME the files in folder it goes into.
Want to check by yourself (WARNING, FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY!): temp turn off your antivirus software, put _one_ virused .exe inside of one of subfolders you'll try to burn later, then turn on avirus and - run NERO , then try to choose that root folder. you'll notice antivirus warning - ONE FILE IS VIRUSED.Who can tell me - WHY THE ***K NERO trying to READ the files _ALL_ _THE_ _TIME ?
