nero showtime wont play dvd

just built a computer installed sony dvd rw & good graphics card etc etc, loaded win xp. can play dvd films in media player 9 & windvd 5. installed nero suite 6 seems o.k apart from i cant play dvd films on nero showtime. its set to autoplay and source is the dvd drive & film. when you press play the dvd drive light flashes for 2 seconds but no film displays. have tried other films, and uninstall & reinstall. thanks.

Does nero recognize blank dvd media?
Burns succesfully?
OEM from another hardware device not present on that machine will not work.

it was an oem version that i understood could be used with any dvd/cd writer.

OEM v are usually locked to the device supplied with.

thanks for you time on this. i bought dvd/cd writer from one shop and bought mobo & nero from another they sold the oem to me with the mobo they did not ask me what dvd drive i had so i just assume it will work with any. are all oem versions locked to certain drives or can you get oem that will work with all. thanks again.

Install the burner alone on the secondary ide cable as master. Set jumper to master. Set bios to auto detect. Run nero info tool.
