Nero InCd Problem

Using Windows XP Pro 5.1 (Build 2600)
Plextor 24/10/40A CDRW
Nero Burning Rom 5.5.5.1
Asus A7V - AMD 750 CPU - 512Mb ram
When first installed, I was able to use a CDRW as a floppy, but now when a file dropped onto the CDRW for writing, I get the following result:

Instead of writing to the CD, a pop up box appears stating I can write the file to the CDRW, which I then click on
A windows XP box appears (NOT NERO) with CD writing tasks
When trying to write the file to the CD, a CD Writing Wizard pops up which when activated states there is no CDRW in the drive!!!
The CDRW directory displays a shortcut to the file which requires to be copied!
I have tried several CDRW (formatted) with the same result.
It appears that the XP writing software tries to take over instead of Nero.
How can I disable the XP software?

Any advice would be very much appreciated...

Thanks

Right click on My Computer, go to manage, go to services, find IMAPI CD Burning, double click, select disable.

Thanks for that Tony. However, just tried that and rebooted, but Windows software still kicks in, and ,obviously, reports that it can't write to an InCd formatted CD. By the way, I have downloaded the Nero update so there "shouldn't" be a problem. Ah,well. The answer must be out there somewhere!

Regarding the very first message on this page from another Jeff, I have exactly the same problem as you, also using Windows XP Pro v2600
I am also using the Plextor 24/10/40A and dropping files did work initially with me as well. I suspect it is not the CD writer because a friend of mine has the same problem using a Liteon make cdrw.

I have tried the above suggestions re disabling and also setting it to manual without curing the problem.
I have the very latest Nero software.

However, whilst in imapi/services I notice the path to the executable under the general tab points to
c:\windows\system32\Imapi.exe
I would like to change this path to
C:\Program Files\ahead\InCD\InCD.exe
I suspect that changing the path may solve the problem

However, I cannot edit this path from within Services. Does anyone have a solution please

XP has native packet writing software for CDRW which is why the explorer window pops up. InCD is not XP compatible.

Hi Randaroo

Thanks for the above info, I have now emailed Ahead software who make Nero, asking for a solution and/or whether they are going to release an update to Nero INCD.
When I receive a reply, I will post it as a fresh message.

Dear sir

(1)
"Open My Computer.
Then right click on your CD-RW Drive (in My case is drive E:) and select Properties.
Select last submenu - Recording.
Here You can disable or enable the recording features of your drive."

(2)And/Or when you go to install InCD:
