hi, i have a samsung cd burner and nero 5.9.9.0 (i think) burning software. the burner was working fine initially but my someone made some changes to it and now it wont see the burner. under select recorder drive - i get "image burner" option and not "samsung cd-rw". i have tried uninstalling the nero s/w and reinstalling it. it still detects the recording device as "image burner" only. i have checked the device manager and the cd-rw has no problems. i can play cds etc.. but it wont burn. any suggestions. thanks in advance!!!

Before following the link provided by Kurt S I suggest that you satch the POST screens during startup for the drive to be identified by model. If it is then proceed with the Filter changes.

Try this: My Computer right click the cd-rw Properties Recording Tab See if Enable CD recording on this drive is checked. Peter

If you are in the USA then your region is correct.
Next try going into your BIOS and if there is an 'auto-detect hard disks' option. Run that then save and exit.
This will ensure that the drive is being seen has the correct one, and not just as an ordinary CD Drive.
Another way to check if your running XP, is if blank CDs show up in windows explorer and if you get the options to 'write files to CD' on the left hand tab.
