i am trying to backup my hard drive with nero and it says some files my be in use? how can i find out what files,as nothing is running or open

I would suggest that you forget about using Nero for backing up your hard drive. Purchase Ghost or one of the other drive 'imaging' programs. They will restore your system even if windows is inoperable. Nero is not able to do that.
