Comment:

I have windows xp and Nero 5.5.10.7 burning program. For some reason when I burn files onto dvd+R media nero reports files burned successfully then during the verification process it takes hours and usualy locks up around 25 to 28%. If I let it fail verification on it's own the disc is usualy still readable but if I stop the verification it when I try to access the dvd+r the pc locks up.

Why would it burn successful but not verify? dvd's are to expensive to try over and over.

I am using nero express should I use the burning rom version instead?

The disc burns at 2x speed.
I have 1.66GHz cpu
I have 1.25 gig of ram
40 gig western digital 7200rpm hard drive
scandisc and defraged to see if that was the problem and didn't correct it.

Hard drive and dvd burner are on seperate ide cables, hard drive primary ide master dvd +r/+rw burner Secondary ide master.

This is a tip that saved me a lot of headaches. It might be what you need to do too.
Burn your DVD in Nero using UDF 1.02

If the DVD you burned does not playback or you get a "Disc Error", burn the disc using UDF 1.02. If you have a somewhat older player, chances are it supports UDF 1.02. Burning it using DVD-Video will use UDF 1.05, which is only supported by newer models. Using UDF 1.02 will ensure that your disc can be played back by just about any standalone unit because those new models that support UDF 1.05 will also play UDF 1.02 discs.
Hope that it helps

Well looks like it's just cheap media. I bought some Memorex and every burn I tried is fine.

Just in case there's someone like me don't waste your money on cheap dvd r's. Optimum and KHypermedia SUCK!!! At least that's my opinion.
