goto http://www.bootdisk.com/ and look at making a bootable CD. Haven't tried it but you can get it all on one disk. Worth a shoot.

There is no win xp startup disk. If for some reasons, your motherboard cannot boot from the cd rom drive, then you have to make 6 boot disks at the Microsoft web site or at any web sites that you know. To boot from you cd rom drive: Enter the BIOS setup menu->Bios Features Setup->Boot Sequence, then change the boot sequence to some thing like this CDROM,C,A. Save the new settings and reboot your pc with the win xp cd in the cd drive. Now make a desired selection. Or, to boot from floppy disk drive: after making the 6 boot disks, reboot your pc with disk #1 in drive a: and follow the on screen instructions. Bye

What exactly are you trying to do, and what kind of computer and cdrom drive do you have? The cdrom manufacturers sometimes have drivers that can be loaded to allow it to work in DOS. Do you have an operating system installed on this computer? A Windows 98 bootdisk from startdisk.com might let you access the drive. Are you trying to install XP or is it already installed? You need to give more information.

Download the 4 mb file.
Once you have downloaded it, open it (It's an EXE file)

A DOS program will start asking you to insert a 144mb floppy (Label it number 1).

The program will write to this disk and then ask for another (Label it 2), and so on until you have 6 disks.

These are your boot disks (All 6).

insert number 1 and reboot. You can now either re-partition, format and re-install OR Repair your windows XP installation.

do yourself a favour & re-install xp overtop of itself, you shouldn't lose any of your files

I dont know the prompt to repair the registry, sorry. You can use the help command to find out what each prompt does. I dont even know if you can repair the registry????
If i were you i would swallow deeply and do a clean install. Its the only way to fix the problem without creating others. James suggested installing XP over itself, unfortunatly you cannot do this with these boot disks or with XP PRO, which i presume you have.
A clean install is the way to go.
Using the boot disks, remove the partition and create a new one to the maximum size of your hard drive (its easy , just follow the on screen prompts).
Then the boot disks will load up and start the clean installation from the cd.

You will loose all data on your hard drive!!!!!

A small price to pay for an easy life. You can soon get it all back.
