Need to share internet with other

Ok, everyone keeps telling that I need a program to be able to share the internet. Something like winproxy, wingate or other another program that does stuff like those. But all that ive tried have either worked for this pc but not the other or the other way around....What program will both work with Windows XP and Windows 98SE? And could I get a tutorial on how to get them working with this program if there is one? www.practicallynetworked.com helped some but then that program that I need was wingate and the client setup thing didnt work on 98SE (said it was for Win95). So could someone help me and please give me a link to an easy to understand how to setup?

Share the Internet? I assume you are using cable or DSL rather than dial-up. Get a Router, no software needed except the firewall & config software that comes with the router.

I got this USB-USB Networking cable that said it could also be used to share the internet. I think I have both computers now configured correctly I just need one of those programs that works for both XP and 98SE...the instructions for the cable says to get sygate 4.0. But i couldnt really figure out how to get that one working, but i guess ill give it another shot. If someone knows of something better please tell me.
