Specs: Windows XP, 256
I need to reinstall xp i have upgrade version which the pc says is older than the installed version, I tried to install 98se so I could upgrade on that but the pc says the hard drive is not partioned. I was pretty fuzzy lastnight (really tired) so I may not be remembering exactly about the partion thing but I do know that it said it did not have a fat therefore could not install 98se.

Just load the xp until you get to the proof part. Then slip in the 98 cd.

Thanx Jefro, I'll try that.I really hope it does work cause the pc is gettingslower by the hour.now the autoplay hesitates sends out a flashlight and then pops up after I have already clicked on the program in the dvd/cd drive.

You need to have the BIOS set to boot the CD first followed by hard drive.
You cannot install XP over the top if your current operating system is running so Autoplay should not even come into the situation.

I tried installing upgrade from the boot up but the program says it will not run in dos, so I tried it from the xp windows and it says it cannot continue because it is older than the version already installed. I am just going to try to repair this version as best as I can. I will probably have alot of questions. I sure am glad that this forum exists.
Thankx for the info, anyway.
