I accidently deleted 3 files which I want back. In the old DOS days XTREE did a great job in recovering files. I don't want to pay for something I might never use again so I'm looking for a FREE software to do the job.
Any ideas?

data recovery:
freewarePC Inspector File Recovery (win(all))
careful if booting from same drive , may write over files, when installing new file/programs,
if important files, boot from other drive/partitions,

Thanks Bloodhound114. The files I 'accidently' deleted were Canadian tax files which I want back. As I mentioned I don't want to buy some software which I will not probably use again in my lifetime. There must be some Freeware out there. I have tried 'free trial' stuff and they show the deleted files but want me to buy before they perform.
Thanks, Bofra, for your suggestion, but the software mentioned is intended for network systems.
Any other ideas?

Just out of curiousity, you do realize that if a word is double underlined on here, it isn't the link someone offered (eg. popup). If something is underlined once, that's the link you're after. In bofras comment, he suggested a site full of options for you. Just click on the word "freeware". Here's the link again (same one as bofra mentioned).
Free data recovery programs here
I apologize if I'm wrong here but that's what I'm getting from your comment.

Thanks, Bllodhound, for the added input on my problem. I went to the site recommended but the only tool there is for NFTS systems. That's another element to my dilemma - the deleted file is on a 256 MEG flash drive which the Smart NFTS Recovery program doesn't handle.
Still looking! There must be something out there that can do the job without digging into my pocket.
