You will need to forward the RDP port (3389 I believe) to the computer you want to access. I would also suggest staticly assigning the IP for the computer so you wont have to change the settings again.

I'm assuming this is one of those "home network" routers, and as such it has a web interface. In there should be some port forwarding options. If you would post the model and manufacturer of your router, I could give more specific instructions. I would also see if you have some documentation you could read.

Either you will have to get a static IP from your ISP or check it on the web every day or every other day.

See if you can find it on myipaddress.com, checkmyip.com, or canyouseeme.com. This should give you your external IP. Then you will have to probably access your internal webpage on your router and setup some sort of port forwarding to your computer on the network.

And, if this is a network at your place of employment, you should check with your IT people to see if Security-wise this is even permitted/possible from outside.

If you need your external (or public) IP, you can get it with the following program:

Not true about the IP address. I have Charter Communications cable, Dynamic IP.. I've had the same IP for pretty close to 8 months now.. Most places are getting this way..
