I need to change my XP back to windows 98, I have the 98 disc. I guess I have to run MS DOS. So I made a MS DOS start up disc. And onc eit starts it is in Drive A:\ when I type C:\, it won't go there. Anyone know any other ways this can be accomplished. To install Windows 98 on XP, sites?

Is your Hard Disk now in NTFS format?
If so then you'll need to use your startup disk and run FDISK.
Delete any and all Partitions, Primary and Logical.
Create a Primary Partition Using FAT32.
When this is doen you can then FORMAT the C-Drive.
Reboot and you should be able to reinstall Windows 98.

Try starting here:

this should assist you to handle FDISK.
after you complete FDISK then format the C-Drive and reboot.
You are now ready to install Windows

Before you do anything - is there any data on drive you need to save? After fdisk and format it will all be gone.
To remove XP & install 98.
1. Boot from 98 boot floppy
2. At A:\ prompt type fdisk
3. Type Y in box to enable large disk support
4. Use option 4 to display exisitng partitions. Note if any say non-dos (ntfs)
5. Use option 3 to delete existing partition(s). If non-dos, use option 4 from next screen.
6. Back at main fdisk menu, use option 1 to create new partition for 98.
7. Then use option 2 to set it active
8. Escape out of fdisk and reboot from 98 boot floppy again (make sure you choose with CD support option).
9. At A:\ prompt type format C:
10. When complete, type E:\setup (assuming your CD drive is E: - normally is with win98 boot floppy) & win98 should install normally from there.
