Infranview should be able to open your PDS files.

Get infranview from the link below.

http://www.irfanview.com/main_downl...

If you registered your copy of PS 6 then try contacting Broderbund, which I think is the distributor, link below. There are also some used copies for sale at Amazon, second link below.

"Now my computer gives me a disc corruption message..."

For what ?
Files on the hard drive, or files on a Printshop CD or DVD ?

If for files on the hard drive, your hard drive may be in the process of failing.

Test your hard drive with hard drive manufacturer's diagnostics.

E.g.
Seagate's SeaTools will test (almost) any brand of hard drive.
http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.j...

Do the long test.

The Dos bootable versions of SeaTools can test the hard drive when Windows will not load properly, or even when the drive has no data on it.

It the drive itself passes the test, any data problems on the drive can be fixed one way or another.

actually the error message was not for 'disc' corruption--the whole program won't load. it doesn't help that my actual disc drive doesn't work either. i think i am losing the battle and need to accept that. my computer is over 5 y ears old.

"it doesn't help that my actual disc drive doesn't work either." Does that mean you can't boot into Windows?

Did you download and try infranview as I suggested in #1 above? Click on the purple infranview URL to get to the download site.

Are you sure the program isn't just opening in a minimized state? Try again and look in the tray at the bottom of your screen to see if the program is there.

Your Printshop files are NOT saved in print shop. Look for a folder in My Documents marked print shop.

If you don't find one then click on the start orb in lower left corner and in the run box type *.pds. Note the period in front of pds. That should bring up a complete list of all the Print shop 6 files. Then create a folder on your desktop and copy all those files to that folder. Now, try to open the files using infranview.

Next, go to Control Panel> add/remove programs. Look for print shop 6. Choose to remove and see if a repair option appears. If not, then back out without removing Print shop.

After Infranview is installed you should be able to just click on one of the files and Infranview should open it.

OK. When I click on the remopve/change button to remove Printshop, it asks if i am sure I want to completely remove all components of the program. should I say yes? there are no other options, such as you suggested repairing.

NO, do not remove it. You may still be able to repair things. Having PS6 installed will not affect accessing the files you need. Install Infranview. You may need to check off pds as one of the file types to read.

Click on the link below to learn how to run chkdsk (check disk). That MIGHT fix the issue with PS6, not guarantees.

Did you try contacting Broderbund from the link above to see if you can get a replacement disk?

Do you have the installation key? If not, try downloading and using SIW free version from the link below. SIW should show you all your installation keys.

If you received an email stating you have a Computing.net PM (private message) you need to look for that message here at CN, not in your email.

Click on the words "My Home in the upper right of this screen. You will then see any private message notifications and also notification of any new responses to any threads you are active in.

Chris the reply was not important... all I said was that I had mi-read the post and just assumed it was Photoshop you were talking about. More haste and less speed on my part. I also mentioned that I would ask around to see whether I could locate a copy of Print Shop 6 locally.

Well, I thought I could be of help, but it turns out I can`t. Just so happens right after reading your post, I was going through some old cds, cleaning out the ones I don`t use, or never used, when I came across Print Shop 6 install cd which I know was never used or registered. I was going to offer it to you when I read the small print on the cd, OEM, not for resale.
