I need a lap top for work in the field. Anyone have recommendations on a Model and make? What about the Centrino from Intel...are these the latest and greatest? Any brands that you would stay away from? Thanks for your help

well at work all my users use Dell laptop D600 and evrything works pretty fine we never have problems with dell .. so thats my opinion !

That's a big subject with no easy answers srloren. Centrino laptops are good though and allow you to have a smaller more power efficient system than P4 laptops can provide. You'll also get wireless capabilities built-in as standard. However, unless you get a Centrino machine with dedicated graphics, you'll be lumbered with integrated Intel graphics which isn't powerful enough for gaming at all.
Read around on the web and you can learn a lot, but it's too big a question for a standard 'Buy This One' kind of answer. For work purposes on the move though, Centrino is a good choice. Especially now that the so-called Centrino 2 (Sonoma/Alviso) chipset has just come out.

Thanks User for your thoughts. I am not a gamer and just need it for accessing the MLS for my son's real estate business here in Carlsbad. BTW I just brought a Fujitsu Life Book home from Frys. It has the 1.7 Centrino Chip, 512 Megs of memory, 60 Gig HD, RW/CD/DVD drive. I have to hook up the wireless cable router and I should be set.
