When you say recovery disks, do you mean HP specific ones?
Anyway, the error you have recieved could be one that needs not to be worried about. I myself have a few times found my PC booting into the XP BSOD and saying Unmoutable boot etc, a way to fix this is to run CHKDSK in recovery console. This will most of the time sort it out :)
